Spreading Joy

Operation Snow Drop believes spreading joy throughout the community can make a difference one person at a time. Through kindness and generosity, we support the culture of not only being humane, but enforce the fact that spreading joy is also a part of being human.

Our organization hosts a number of events during the year which bring together the individuals of disadvantaged communities and help each celebrate the life the have been given.

Celebrations for the Young and Old

Each year Operation Snow Drop hosts Christmas celebrations where donated toys and sweets are given out to children in schools and in HIV clinics. Thanks to our generous volunteers, we have hosted parties which include Father Christmas and his elves, a live band, jumping castles, and Christmas fairies with hundreds of people in attendance. We continue to spread joy over at Epworth Children’s Home where we deliver Christmas biscuits the children.

We also take the time to visit the oldest and wisest in disadvantaged communities during the holiday season. Our organization has been able to provide elderly residents with clothing packets, gifts, meat parcels, and food hampers while entertaining them with primary school choirs and live bands.

It is our commitment to put together hundreds of Christmas hampers for families each year. These hampers include tinned goods as well as fresh produce.

Beautifying the Community

Operation Snow Drop has also been actively beautifying communities. We work with other organizations to tackle some much needed maintenance tasks such as fixing leaking taps and water pipes, trimming trees, clearing gutters, and other maintenance work for those who are unable to do so.

We’ve also been asked to beautify the children’s ward at the FER hospital. Because of the sponsorship received by FNB volunteers, we were able to ask the accomplished artist Judie Jones and other art students to make the ward fresh and inspiring. And with the help of FNB, we were also able to donate pyjamas and slippers, pillows, and child-friendly overcoats to the nursing staff.

Operation Snow Drop works tirelessly every day of the year to spread joy by hosting major events and by providing the daily necessities of life such as regular access to nourishing food, clothing, and education. It is our hope that the changes we make today will change the future for the disadvantaged communities of South Africa.

All of this is possible due to the determined work of our volunteers and the generous contributions of our donors. If you’d like to support our efforts, click here for more details on how you can help.
