Who are we

Operation Snow Drop is a non-profit organisation (registration number 067363) committed to serving disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa. Our focus is on providing practical yet innovative means for impoverished individuals to rise up from poverty in a way that benefits them as an individual as well as benefits the community as a whole.

For the past several years we have been engaged in a number of community projects which benefit the young and the old. Through both individual and collaborative efforts, we work to eradicate poverty, to provide necessities of life (including food, clothing, school supplies, and HIV clinics), to enhance literacy and education through sponsorships and business acumen programs, and to bring joy to everyone we meet.

Thanks to help from our committee, our volunteers, and our sponsors, we will continue to campaign against the injustices which have caused poverty in South Africa and to rebuild livelihoods of impoverished individuals one person at a time.

Meet the Team

Ina McDonald

Chairperson

The combination of a lifelong career in family law, being the chairman of Child Welfare for 16 years and being a champion for those in need of support, has led Ina to founding Operation Snow Drop in 2006.

Born and raised in Springs, she became the first female prosecutor, magistrate and attorney in town and opened her own practice in 1989. Passionate about changing lives for the better, her early fundraising initiatives started when she joined Rotary in 1993, becoming president in 1995 and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow recognition in 1997.

She is a dynamic, visionary force for upliftment, and has shown tireless commitment to the wide range of projects that fall under the purview of Operation Snow Drop. The impressive scope of what the organisation has achieved so far – mostly through volunteer efforts – is a testament to her deep relationships with local communities, community and business leaders.

Ina is driven by ‘the sense that you can make a difference and seeing someone that you’ve helped, achieve something’.
